Sugar House Movies 10 brought back their dollar series. As best I recall, it was very affordable. But the average patron was 14, and they expected you to sit respectfully through a film. I was told to shut up on multiple occasions and thrown out once. For a dollar, who cares? Oh, and it also seems they focused on family-oriented films. ..::SIGH::.. I am mildly excited at their attempts, and appreciate their efforts, but it's just not the same as art house midnites. I am a Tower Girl through and through. (Does anyone want to donate a few thousand dollars to the Ami-wants-to-buy-an-arthouse-theatre-and-do-grindhouse-Saturdays-fund?) |

I wholeheartedly agree with you. A dollar is not enough money for me to shut up. The dollar theater is not an opera house! But I can't give you any money. I need a car more than I need an awesome theater. Priorities! However, if you find some stuffy old rich white dude, you might be in business. |

I'm going to have to say that perhaps the Dollar Movies' approach to a "Midnight Movie" had a different concept in mind. Just because a movie airs at the same time is no reason to assume that it was intended for the same purpose and aimed at the same target audience. Some people simply enjoy watching movies late at night. |

And even more people might simply enjoy watching a movie for a dollar. That way they can spend the whole night telling their date "I'd buy that for a dollar...oh wait... I already did". This line also works if you take a date to all a dollar, but your chance of getting another date go down significantly. |

I don't know. I'll have to see. Wuddawaste's comments sparked my interest, and I had to surf the net to see if there were any etiquette guides to midnite movies. I can find them to midnite PREMIERES and to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but not to other midnight films. I sent a little poll across the net, asking people about midnight theatre etiquette in their hometowns, and the response is fascinating. I think I will post a few of them, eventually. I also think that someone needs to write an etiquette guide. Maybe I will eventually make a website. Pretty much the reason that I sent out the poll was to ascertain that I am not fasticious based on local culture. In the meantime, I have just obtained a copy of Troma's 1972 classic, The Demented Farmhouse Massacre. Any takers? |

No idea what that is, but it sounds like fun! And I don't think there's any real etiquette for midnight movies, it's just that you always have a few uptight pricks who need to make other people feel bad about having fun. |
