Yet again I am surprised to find out exactly how much I can't stand this organization. http://www.peta.org/about/hottopic007.asp They support breed specific legislation, ergo, they are dead to me. |

How d you ban the breeding of an animal?! Has this ever been attempted? How would you enforce and moniter such a law? I imagine it would take LOTS of tax payer cheese to hire and train personal, star patrol routes, gather info on suspected or known breeders. Then what? What do you do when a large number of illegally breed dogs is found? Destroy them? Spend more money nuetering and filling shelters with animals that now have a worse reputation then before they wore banned? Ignore current pit bill owners rights and demand they keep records and have papers avilable at all time to prove their pets inability to get a chubby? I understand the problem, but it isnt the dogs, its the people. And the fact that PETA doesnt recognize this just shows how ignorant and unproffessional they are. |

Oh, the visual you just gave me in my head. 2 dogs making puppies in a back alley. Police officer runs up and aims his tazer. "FREEZE! Don't you know that breeding is illegal in this area?!" |

How can you feel threatened by THAT? (And on that note, there's a litter of baby pits at the pound right now that look just like that. Tried to beg my dad. He said no.) |

Why are there so many organizations hellbent on wasting time? Pet projects like this are at best altruistic in theory, but negative in practice. The extent of the problem is a drop in the ocean compared to most real issues this community/nation/country/world faces. Not only this, but it's an endless circular battle. That is, infinite-effort input will obtain zero-result output. Even if there *is* a result, does the world end up significantly better than it was before? We need bang-for-the-buck political action. For better or worse, I want to see some change as a result of everyone's bickering. - Ban the transportation of trailered "recreation vehicles" on the freeway during rush hour. - Demand ice cream trucks be as audible as fire engines. - Give tax breaks to people who wear panda suits 3000+ hours per year. Something. Anything. Just don't waste time griping over unsolvable problems and imaginary resources. |
